Mets Sign Luke Voit To Minor-League Deal
2 years agoThe New York Mets signed free-agent first baseman Luke Voit to a minor-league deal on Monday. He will join Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday. Voit has fallen far since leading the majors with 22 home runs in the COVID-shortened 2020 season with the New York Yankees. He hit just 11 homers the following season and had 22 total long balls in 2022 with the San Diego Padres and Washington Nationals. With Pete Alonso (wrist) potentially missing the next three to four weeks with a left-wrist injury, Voit will give the Mets some more first base depth behind Mark Vientos and Mark Canha. Voit hit just .221 (15-for-68) with three doubles, no homers, four RBI and 27 strikeouts in 22 games for the Milwaukee Brewers this year before he was ultimately released.
