Alec Pierce Dealing With Minor Foot Ailment
1 year agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce (foot) sat out of practice Wednesday with a minor foot issue, but head coach Shane Steichen said "it's nothing serious," and he could have practiced on Wednesday. The team is just being cautious with the second-year wideout early in the offseason. Pierce posted 593 yards and two touchdowns on 41 receptions in the lifeless Colts offense last season, so it was ultimately a decent campaign for the Cincinnati product. With Parris Campbell gone, he could serve as the primary field-stretcher for a combination of quarterbacks Gardner Minshew and No. 4 overall pick Anthony Richardson in 2023. Michael Pittman Jr. should continue to operate as the Colts' No. 1 WR, but Pierce and rookie Josh Downs will battle it out to be the second option in the passing game.
