Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts was the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. The young tight end had an excellent college career, totaling 100 receptions for 1,492 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns at Florida.
Pitts is the highest-drafted tight end in NFL history. However, it wasn’t just his college production. The former Gator ran a 4.44 40-yard dash at the NFL combine at 245 lbs. Furthermore, his 129-inch broad jump put him in the 97 percentile among tight ends.
More importantly, Pitts had an outstanding rookie season. He had 68 receptions on 110 targets for 1,026 receiving yards and a touchdown. Furthermore, the former Gator is only the second tight end in NFL history, with over 1,000 receiving yards as a rookie. More importantly, Pitts was the TE7 in 2021, averaging 8.4 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.

Is Kyle Pitts Injured Or Healthy?
Unfortunately, the star tight end struggled last season. Pitts had only 28 receptions on 59 targets for 356 receiving yards and two touchdowns in 10 games before a season-ending knee injury. Furthermore, he was only the TE33 last year, averaging 6.2 fantasy points per game.
While the team expects Pitts to be ready for Week 1, they are taking things slow this offseason. Therefore, fantasy players shouldn’t be surprised that the young tight end didn’t participate in organized team activities.
What Should Fantasy Players Expect From Kyle Pitts This Season?
Despite struggling last season, Pitts is a talented player. Furthermore, the former Gator is younger than multiple rookie tight ends.
The biggest reason the young tight end hasn’t turned into a fantasy superstar is the lack of touchdowns because of poor quarterback production. Atlanta traded away Matt Ryan last offseason and replaced him with Marcus Mariota. Unfortunately, the former Oregon star was awful for the young tight end.
Pitts had only a 59.3% catchable target rate in 2022, one of the worst in the NFL. Furthermore, Mariota completed only 23.5% of his pass attempts over 20 yards. Thankfully, the veteran is now with the Philadelphia Eagles and far away from the star tight end. Therefore, fantasy players should expect Pitts to have a bounce-back season in 2023.
