Jose Alvarado Injury Update
Alvarado had a 0.63 ERA with 24 strikeouts in 14 1/3 innings before his injury. This is coming off a season where he recorded a 3.13 ERA with 81 strikeouts in 51 innings. Alvarado has displayed incredible strikeout stuff and control in the past. Hopefully, he can return to form.
On Saturday, Alvarado began his minor-league rehab assignment at Triple-A. He made another rehab appearance on Tuesday, which was reportedly his last appearance before returning to the Phillies.
The Phillies closer appears to be making his return from the IL on Friday against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Alvarado is set to return on Friday as the Phillies face off against the Dodgers. A potential matchup against a formidable lineup is not a soft landing for the closer, but Phillies fans and fantasy managers should still be excited to see Alvarado return.
Alvarado is one of the nastiest relief pitchers in baseball. Combine that with his incredible control, and he has the potential to be one of the game's best closers. Last season, Alvarado achieved a feat that only two of the best closers of all time had accomplished.
