Gavin Williams Looks To Continue His Dominant Stretch
1 year agoCleveland Guardians top pitching prospect Gavin Williams struck out six over 6 1/3 innings in his last start on Saturday. Since getting promoted to Triple-A Columbus, Williams has a 2.25 ERA with 42 strikeouts over 32 innings pitched. The 23-year-old has also not given up more than two earned runs in any of his eight starts between Double-A and Triple-A. The right-hander's next start is scheduled for Friday against the Iowa Cubs. Williams looks ready for his next promotion, but it's tough to say when that promotion will be. The Guardians rotation is welcoming back Aaron Civale (oblique) on Friday, and it looks like Triston McKenzie (shoulder) will also be back soon. Williams may be the odd man out for a while, unless the Guardians elect to use him in a six-man rotation. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues with a spare bench spot can stash Williams, as he remains an exciting player to keep an eye on.
