Yusei Kikuchi Earns 100th Career Win, 500th MLB Strikeout Tuesday
1 year agoTuesday's 7-2 win over the Brewers was a big milestone day for Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi, who achieved his 500th Major League strikeout while also earning his 100th career win between MLB and Nippon Professional Baseball. Kikuchi pitched five innings, allowing two runs on three hits (including a two-run home run) and five walks with four strikeouts. The 31-year-old started the season off well but has cooled off more towards his career numbers and is now 6-2 with a 4.47 ERA, 8.31 K/9 rate, and 3.04 BB/9 rate in 11 starts. Kikuchi should continue to be a useful streamer throughout the season, although his next start will be against a resurgent Mets offense. Fantasy managers may consider sitting him in that matchup, particularly in roto leagued.
