Liam Hendriks Receives Huge Ovation, Allows Two Runs In Season Debut
2 years agoThe results of his outing were nowhere near as important as its meaning for Chicago White Sox relief pitcher Liam Hendriks in Monday's 6-4 loss to the Angels. Making his 2023 debut after recovering from non-Hodgkins lymphoma, Hendriks received several ovations throughout the evening. He pitched the eighth inning and did not factor, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk with no strikeouts. The veteran topped out at 96.6 MPH and should be eased back into primary closing duties. Hendriks has been a top fantasy closer for the past several seasons and should eventually receive the opportunity to be one once again this season.
