Nick Madrigal Optioned To Triple-A
2 years agoThe Chicago Cubs optioned second baseman Nick Madrigal to Triple-A Iowa on Thursday to make room on the active roster for starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks (shoulder), who is coming off the injured list to make his season debut on Thursday against the New York Mets. Madrigal will be able to play every day in the minors after serving in more of a bench role at the major-league level of late. The 26-year-old had seen action in 34 games and was hitting .247 (23-for-93) with three doubles, a triple, no home runs, nine RBI, two stolen bases and 13 runs scored for the Cubbies. Unless an injury to one of Chicago's infielders opens up more playing time, Madrigal won't have much fantasy value.
