New York Jets running back Breece Hall was the first running back selected in the 2022 NFL Draft and immediately lived up to the hype as he began his NFL career. Unfortunately, he suffered a torn ACL in the Week 7 game against the Denver Broncos, effectively cutting his terrific rookie season short.
However, ACL tears are no longer a death sentence for following-year production, so he could still be a high-end fantasy asset in 2023. We have his latest injury update out of OTAs.
Is Hall healthy or injured and what is his 2023 fantasy football outlook? Let's get into it.

Breece Hall Injury Update For Fantasy Football
Hall (knee) was seen doing side sprints on a side field at OTAs, which is a good sign for his recovery seven months after he suffered a torn ACL. Hall rushed 80 times for 463 yards (5.8 YPC) and four scores and caught 19 passes for 218 yards and one touchdown before the major knee injury.
The team has publicly stated he could be back for Week 1 of the 2023 season, but it's too early to know if that will be the case. If he does miss time, Michael Carter, Israel Abanikanda, and Zonovan Knight will all get an opportunity to see work in the New York offense led by new quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
Breece Hall 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
With Rodgers under center instead of Zach Wilson, it's easy to get excited about the Jets' offensive play-makers. Hall finished the 2022 campaign as the RB7 in fantasy points per game (PPR), trailing only Austin Ekeler, Christian McCaffrey, Josh Jacobs, Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley, and Nick Chubb. Needless to say, that's elite company for a rookie.
All that said, it's important to proceed with caution since he's coming off the injury. Even if he can play in Week 1, the team will likely ease him back and limit his workload. This could go on for just a few weeks or the entire season. Michael Carter and Zonovan Knight have proven to be serviceable backs and the rookie Israel Abanikanda is a home run hitter.
Ultimately, the upside is there for Hall, but it comes with a ton of risk. He is coming off the board around the RB11 spot in early PPR drafts. His upside is the No. 1 overall running back, but a managed workload could put him in RB2 range. Fantasy football is all about taking calculated risks though, so if your league mates are shying away from him, take the value on a potential league winner.
