Carolina Panthers wide receiver DJ Chark suffered a major ankle injury in 2021 with the Jacksonville Jaguars, and once again battled bumps and bruises in 2022 with the Detroit Lions.
Now, he's set to be one of Bryce Young's top wideouts in Carolina, but he still may be banged up heading into the season.
Is Chark healthy or injured and what is his 2023 fantasy football outlook? Let's get into it.

DJ Chark Injury Update For Fantasy Football
Chark (ankle) was present for the first day of organized team activities on Monday, but he didn't take part in team drills while still recovering from offseason ankle surgery. This marks the second straight year that he's had surgery on the ankle and he'll likely continue to be limited this spring, but he's expected to be ready for full participation later this summer for training camp at the end of July.
The 26-year-old pass-catcher played in only 11 games (10 starts) for the Detroit Lions in 2022 due to his ankle injury, but he finished strong and had 30 receptions for 502 yards and three touchdowns.
DJ Chark 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
While Chark is an exciting player thanks to his big-play ability and speed, it will likely be a tough road to real fantasy success in 2023. Wideouts with rookie quarterbacks often struggle mightily in terms of fantasy production and Chark isn't a big volume guy fit for high-end PPR league success.
However, he is a fine dart throw in Best Ball leagues at his WR61-64 price tag. He's had big games at times throughout his career, but he's rarely been a must-start option in regular leagues with a solid floor. In Best Ball, you don't have to worry about that, so if you want some exposure to Chark, that's the format to do so.
The Panthers added former Ole Miss wide receiver Jonathan Mingo in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft and added Adam Thielen in free agency. Thielen may be past his prime, but he'll still likely command targets as Young's potential safety blanket early on in his career.
