The Jacksonville Jaguars have been the laughingstock of the NFL over the past few years. However, they were a much better team in 2022.
Jacksonville won the AFC South division title for only the second time in franchise history. The team ended the year with a 9-8 record before defeating the Los Angeles Chargers in the first round of playoffs.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville spent their top three draft picks on offense. One of those selections was Auburn running back Tank Bigsby. He will now form a 1-2 punch in the backfield with Travis Etienne.

What Did The Jaguars Running Backs Accomplish Last Year?
Unfortunately, Etienne missed his rookie year with a foot injury. However, he was productive last season. The former Clemson star had 220 rushing attempts for 1,125 yards and five touchdowns. He averaged 5.1 yards per rushing attempt.
Furthermore, Etienne played a critical role in the passing game. The second-year running back had 35 receptions on 45 targets for 316 receiving yards, with 45.7% of his receptions resulting in a first down.
Meanwhile, Bigsby had a terrific college career. He had 540 rushing attempts for 2,903 yards and 25 touchdowns in three years at Auburn. More importantly, the rookie averaged 5.4 yards per rushing attempt in 2022. Furthermore, his 10 rushing touchdowns were the fourth-most in the SEC.
Who Will Be The Top Running Back For The Jaguars In 2023?
Despite not taking over as the featured running back until the middle part of the season, Etienne finished top 10 in rushing yards in 2022. Furthermore, he led the team in rushing touchdowns.
However, Etienne struggled around the goal line last season. Therefore, it’s no surprise that the Jaguars added Bigsby. The team struggled with depth and options at the running back position after they traded away James Robinson last year.
Fantasy players should consider Etienne the No. 1 running back, given his home run ability and pass-catching skill set. However, Bigsby will have a consistent role on offense, especially around the goal line. Etienne is a mid RB2 with upside, while Bigsby is an RB3 with more value in non-PPR than PPR leagues.
