Emmanuel Clase Notches League-Leading 15th Save
2 years agoCleveland Guardians relief pitcher Emmanuel Clase threw a clean ninth inning to pick up his 15th save in a 3-1 victory over the Chicago White Sox. Clase allowed a hit and struck out one in his inning of work. He now has a 2.82 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts in 22 ⅓ IP. He has a staggering 19 save opportunities so far, five more than anyone else. Obviously that won't keep up, but he will continue seeing the lion's share of chances with the Guardians, who tend to play in tight, low-scoring affairs. He should be among the league leaders in saves if he stays healthy.
