Veteran tight end Foster Moreau was a fourth-round pick by the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft. The former LSU tight end had 46 receptions for 550 receiving yards and five touchdowns over his final two years in college.
Moreau had a productive rookie season despite being the No. 2 tight end on the depth chart behind Darren Waller. The rookie had 21 receptions on 25 targets for 174 receiving yards and five touchdowns that year. Furthermore, he finished second on the team in receiving touchdowns. Unfortunately, Moreau couldn’t build off his rookie success.
The young tight end saw his role in the passing game disappear in 2020. That year Moreau had only seven receptions on nine targets for 140 receiving yards and two touchdowns despite playing in every contest. However, the former LSU tight end then had 30 receptions on 44 targets for 373 receiving yards and three touchdowns in 2021 as he started six games for the injured Waller.

What Did Foster Moreau Accomplish In 2022?
Last year the veteran tight end had 33 receptions on 54 targets for 420 receiving yards and two touchdowns. While the two receiving touchdowns matched a career low, Moreau set a career-high in receptions, targets, and receiving yards.
Waller once again struggled with injuries in 2022, opening the door for Moreau to start eight games. However, the change in the coaching staff and the addition of Davante Adams limited the veteran tight end’s upside despite starting eight contests.
Is Foster Moreau A Good Fit For The Saints?
Earlier this offseason, Moreau had planned to sign with the New Orleans Saints. However, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma during a routine physical with the team. The veteran tight end announced he was stepping away from football to deal with his medical situation.
However, Moreau recently got a positive diagnosis and plans to play in 2023. Earlier today, the veteran tight end signed a three-year contract with New Orleans worth $12 million, including $8 million guaranteed.
While Moreau’s quick return to the NFL is excellent news, his arrival won’t have much impact for fantasy players. The veteran tight end has never been a consistent fantasy starter. Furthermore, Juwan Johnson is an emerging star after leading the team in receiving touchdowns last season (seven).
Moreau is an outstanding addition for the Saints. However, his impact will be purely on the field and not in the box score for fantasy players.
