Will Smith Records Sixth Save
2 years agoTexas Rangers closer Will Smith picked up his sixth save of the season after throwing a scoreless ninth inning to close out the Seattle Mariners 4-3 on Wednesday. Smith struck out two batters and got AJ Pollock to ground out to third baseman Josh Jung to seal the game. The 33-year-old has converted 6/7 saves this season and displays a 3.21 ERA and a 1.07 WHIP. He has struck out 17 batters while walking just five. Smith is posting a 28.3% K rate, a 9.4% walk rate, and a .281 opponent BAPIP. The Rangers signed the southpaw over the offseason to a one-year, $1.5 million deal in hopes to bolster their bullpen and employ a true closer. Smith is rostered just 55%, and fantasy managers should look out for Smith on the waiver wire if he's still available.
