David Robertson Picks Up Seventh Save
2 years agoNew York Mets right-hander David Robertson picked up his seventh save of the season after tossing a scoreless ninth to close out the Reds 2-1 on Wednesday. Robertson has inarguably been the most effective Mets' reliever after signing a one-year $10 million deal over the offseason. He owns a 0.59 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, with 20 strikeouts and five walks across 15 1/3 innings. He also displays a 32.7% strikeout rate, a 9.1% walk rate, and a .163 opponent average. With star closer Edwin Diaz expected to miss the season, Robertson was next in line to fill in as the closer. After a month of play, it's fair to say that the 38-year-old has done a solid job of replacing Diaz, and has been one of the most dominant relievers in the game.
