Tennessee Titans quarterback Malik Willis was a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
The second-year quarterback had a productive college career, completing 62.4% of his pass attempts for 5,107 yards and 47 touchdowns during his two years at Liberty.
Willis also had 338 rushing attempts for 1,822 yards and 27 touchdowns over his final two years in college. Unfortunately, his rookie season in the NFL was rocky at best.

Will The Titans Release Malik Willis?
Last year Willis had a 1-2 record as the starter. He completed only 50.8% of his pass attempts for 276 yards and zero touchdowns in his rookie year. Furthermore, the former Liberty quarterback had three interceptions and only 11 passing first downs.
However, the rookie was solid in the running game. Willis had 27 rushing attempts for 123 yards and a touchdown last year. Sadly, things drastically changed this offseason.
The Titans hired Ran Carthon as their new general manager. Carthon doesn't believe in the former Liberty quarterback.
When the Titans traded up in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft to secure Will Levis, it likely meant the end of Willis in Tennessee. Reportedly, the second-year quarterback won’t make the final 53-man roster unless Ryan Tannehill gets traded this summer.
Which Teams Could Sign Malik Willis?
Despite struggling as a rookie, Willis still could turn into an NFL starter. Peyton Manning led the league with 28 interceptions as a rookie. Now, will Willis turn into a future Hall of Famer? Probably not. However, it shows you can’t give up on a quarterback after one season.
Unfortunately, Willis won’t get a chance to succeed in Tennessee after the Titans traded up for Levis. However, one potential landing spot is the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks didn’t draft a quarterback in the 2023 NFL Draft despite speculation that they could use the fifth overall pick on one. Furthermore, Geno Smith signed a three-year deal this offseason. He can be the veteran leader to help develop and mentor Willis.
Another potential landing spot is the Baltimore Ravens. Willis won’t become a starter with Lamar Jackson signing a long-term this offseason. However, the Ravens can help develop Willis’ passing game as they did with Jackson a few years ago. After spending a year or two as the backup quarterback, Willis could find a potential starting role in free agency.
