The 2023 NFL Draft is in the rearview mirror. There were 259 players drafted over the three-day event, including 157 on the third and final day.
One of those players was Texas running back Roschon Johnson. The former Longhorn was a fourth-round pick by the Chicago Bears. He got drafted with the 115th overall pick as the eighth running back off the board.
However, what can Bear fans and fantasy football players expect from Johnson in the NFL?

What Did Roschon Johnson Accomplish At Texas?
The former Longhorn signed with Texas as a quarterback. However, injuries forced Johnson to change positions as a freshman. Yet, he hit the ground running. Johnson had 123 rushing attempts for 649 yards and seven touchdowns in 2019.
His numbers declined in 2020 as Bijan Robinson joined the team. Johnson only had 80 rushing attempts for 418 yards and six touchdowns. The young running back had 96 rushing attempts for 569 yards and five touchdowns the following year. Despite some calling for him to turn pro, the former Longhorn returned to Texas.
Johnson had a productive season last year. While he had 93 rushing attempts for 554 yards and five touchdowns, the star running back averaged six yards per attempt, a career-high. Furthermore, he finished second on the team in rushing touchdowns, only behind Robinson.
While Johnson had a limited role at Texas once Robinson joined the team, fantasy players should be excited about the former Longhorn.
Is Roschon Johnson A Good With For The Bears?
Despite being a fourth-round pick, Johnson is a starting-caliber running back in the NFL. He has several fans in NFL circles, including former NFL player and director of pro personnel and current ESPN analyst Louis Riddick.
The Chicago backfield underwent several changes this offseason. David Montgomery signed with the Detroit Lions. Meanwhile, the Bears signed D’Onta Foreman in free agency to a one-year deal.
However, Johnson should earn the lead role before the start of the regular season. The former Longhorn is the most talented running back on the team. Furthermore, he has the most upside. More importantly, the front office and coaching staff love Johnson. Meanwhile, Khalil Herbert was a holdover from the previous regime. Fantasy players should target the former Texas running back in their dynasty rookie drafts.
