The Los Angeles Rams were riding high off a Super Bowl victory heading into the 2023 season, but the Super Bowl hangover was in full effect, as the team won seven fewer games and head coach Sean McVay had his first losing season at 5-12.
Key stars including Aaron Donald, Matthew Stafford, and Cooper Kupp battles injuries last season -- but the depth of the overall team was lacking. L.A. hasn't had a first-round pick since they selected Jared Goff first overall in 2016, but general manager Les Snead made 14 total selections in this year's draft. Hopefully, they filled the roster much needed depth at multiple positions.
Who did the Rams take during the 2023 NFL Draft and how should the class as a whole be viewed? Let's dive in.

The Rams have traded away bunches of draft picks in recent years to acquire players like Stafford, Jalen Ramsey, and Von Miller, so its mission was clear for the 2023 NFL Draft -- draft as many players as possible in an attempt to fill holes in the roster. They didn't take any high-end gems that will get the average NFL fan excited, but they added pieces to its front seven, offensive line, secondary, quarterback room, wide receiver room, and running back room.
Rams 2023 Rookie Fantasy Impact
From a fantasy football perspective, there's not too much to get excited about with the Rams' selections. Bennett could see playing time as a rookie if Matthew Stafford suffers setbacks from his spine injury, but a fourth-round QB has no guarantee to see legitimate action. Davis Allen will start the year behind Tyler Higbee with a committee of tight ends, so he's not a notable selection at this point.
However, Puka Nacua and Zach Evans are interesting late-round flyers in 2023 dynasty rookie drafts. Both were taken on day three so we can't get too ahead of ourselves, but the Rams wide receiver group behind Cooper Kupp and running back depth chart behind Cam Akers are mediocre. If Nacua can crack at least the top-four wideouts in Sean McVay's offense, he'll have a place on deep dynasty rosters.
Evans will have a chance to compete to be the clear backup to Akers. Given the injury rate for running backs, any No. 2 back will have fantasy value in deep leagues. Even in shallow leagues, he could be a top waiver add at some point in the year if he earns the No. 2 role.
Ultimately, the Rams make solid choices with the limited high-round picks at their disposal, but no one is a fantasy football smash as we see the board now.
