Robinson Chirinos Announces His Retirement
2 years agoCatcher Robinson Chirinos officially announced his retirement from professional baseball on Wednesday on his Twitter account. Chirinos hadn't played at all in 2023 and hit .179/.265/.287 with a .552 OPS, nine doubles, four home runs, 22 RBI, a steal and 10 runs scored in 67 games for the Baltimore Orioles in 2022. He spent time with six different teams during his 11-year career, but he only spent significant time with one team, the Texas Rangers (seven seasons). He saw one-year stints with the Mets, Rays, Cubs, Orioles and Astros. The 38-year-old backstop will walk away from the game with a career .226/.319/.419 slash line with a .738 OPS, 95 home runs, 306 RBI and five stolen bases in 714 regular season games.
