Bryce Miller Will Get Multiple Starts
2 years agoThe Seattle Mariners are adding top pitching prospect Bryce Miller from Double-A Arkansas in order to make his major-league debut on Tuesday against the Oakland Athletics, according to a source. It won't be a spot start, either, as Miller will remain in the starting rotation moving forward. Robbie Ray (forearm) is out for the season. Chris Flexen filled in for Ray but had a 10.38 ERA in four starts, and rookie Easton McGee (forearm) started on Saturday and looked great, but he landed on the injured list Sunday. Miller, a fourth-rounder in 2021 had an ERA north of 6.00 in four starts in the minors this year, but he broke out in 2022 with 163 K's in 133 2/3 frames in three minor-league stops. The 24-year-old is absolutely worth a waiver-wire pickup in deep-mixed and AL-only leagues if you need rotation help, and he won't be a bad streamer against the struggling A's on Tuesday.
