The 2023 NFL Draft is in the rearview mirror. There were 259 players drafted over the three-day event, including 102 over the first two days.
One of those players was South Dakota State tight end Tucker Kraft. The former Jackrabbit was a third-round pick by the Green Bay Packers. He got drafted with the 78th overall pick as the seventh tight end off the board.
However, what can Packers fans and fantasy football players expect from Kraft in the NFL?

What Did Tucker Kraft Accomplish At South Dakota State?
Kraft spent his first year at South Dakota State as a redshirt player. He only saw action in one game and didn’t catch a pass. Over the next two years, the young tight end had seven receptions for 90 yards in seven games. However, things changed in 2021.
The former Jackrabbit had a career year that season, totaling 65 receptions for 773 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Furthermore, Tucker finished second on the team in every category that year.
Unfortunately, the young tight end only played nine games last season. Kraft had 27 receptions for 348 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Despite missing time last season, Kraft was Third-Team AP All-American and First-Team All-MVFC last year. Furthermore, he was Third-Team States Perform FCS All-American in 2022.
Is Tucker Kraft A Good Fit For The Packers?
Green Bay has undergone some massive changes over the past year. They traded away future Hall of Famer Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders. Then the Packers sent Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets last week.
Now that Jordan Love is officially the starting quarterback in Green Bay, the team wants to do everything possible to help him succeed. Therefore, it’s no surprise the Packers used all three of their Day 2 draft selections on pass catchers, including Kraft.
While all the new additions are great for Love, it’s not ideal for fantasy players. Last year the Packers spent three draft picks on wide receivers. They used a second-round pick on Christian Watson, a fourth-round selection on Romeo Doubs, and a seventh-rounder on Samori Toure.
This year the Packers spent a second-round pick on Jayden Reed and Luke Musgrave. They then selected Kraft in the third round. Green Bay also spent a fifth-round pick on Dontayvion Wicks and a seventh-round selection on Grant DuBose.
Unfortunately, all the new additions over the past year will make it hard for Kraft to stand out in Green Bay.
