Bryce Young Will Be Eased Into Starting Role
2 years agoThe Carolina Panthers took quarterback Bryce Young with the first overall pick in last week's NFL draft, but he'll be eased into the starting role this summer. When the team takes the field for their first full-squad organized team activities later this month, quarterback Andy Dalton will take the first-team repetitions. "He'll have to earn it. Obviously, that's the way it should be. We'll know when the right time is," head coach Frank Reich said. The Panthers don't want to overwhelm Young too soon while giving him a chance to learn the offense. Young is a quick study, though, so it shouldn't take him too long before he's running the first-team offense. It would be a big surprise if Young isn't the starter in Week 1 of his rookie season.
