David Bednar Records Ninth Save
2 years agoPittsburgh Pirates closer David Bednar recorded his ninth save of the season in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Washington Nationals in game one of the doubleheader. Bednar has a four-way tie for the most saves in the MLB with Josh Hader, Jordan Romano, and Emmanuel Clase. He is one of the most electric closers in the game and has one of the lowest ERA amongst qualifying relievers. He exhibits a 0.69 ERA, 0.69 WHIP, with 17 strikeouts across 13 innings. He's made 13 appearances with a 31.9% strikeout rate and a 2.1% walk rate. The 28-year-old has allowed just one run this season and is on pace for one of the most dominant seasons as a closer.
