Alex Verdugo Walks It Off
2 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo drove in the winning run to top the Cleveland Guardians by an 8-7 margin on Saturday. The Guardians took hold of the lead in the top of the 10th after Mike Zunino lined a single to left field, but Christian Arroyo knotted the game at seven with an RBI single of his own. Verdugo was then faced to bat against Emmanuel Clase with one out and eventually drove in Arroyo to win the game. In 2023, the 26-year-old is hitting .301/.363/.451 with a .814 OPS. He has been one of the most productive hitters in the Red Sox lineup and continues to put together an impressive season. The Arizona native also displays a 125 wRC+ and .358 wOBA.
