2 years agoBaltimore Orioles infield prospect Joey Ortiz has been promoted to the MLB roster ahead of their series against the Detroit Tigers. MLB Pipeline's No. 91 overall prospect, Ortiz slashed .359/.389/.500 over 16 games with Triple-A Norfolk, including seven extra-base hits. His promotion may be short-lived, instead providing immediate right-handed hitting relief with Austin Hays and Jorge Mateo banged up. Nonetheless, Ortiz carries excellent contact metrics and may have an opportunity to stick around for good if his first taste of the big leagues is a success. Fantasy managers should consider adding Ortiz now, especially in dynasty and keeper leagues, as he figures to be a mainstay on the MLB roster at some point.--Kevin Hickey - RotoBaller
