Jalen Carter Makes Sense For Bears
2 years agoAt pick No. 9 overall in the first round of this year's NFL draft, the Chicago Bears could go with Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter. They have spent a lot of time with him during the pre-draft process, and he makes a lot of sense with this selection. Head coach Matt Eberflus' defense hinges on a three-technique with penetrating ability, and that's exactly what Carter brings. If Carter is already off the board, the Bears could consider trading back yet again for even more draft capital. Defensive-line help is a big need this year for Chicago, and if they trade back, they could target Iowa's Lukas Van Ness, Georgia's Nolan Smith or Pittsburgh's Calijah Kancey. Carter has some character concerns, but there's also no arguing that from a football standpoint, he's one of the best all-around prospects in this year's draft class.
