Anthony Richardson Career Review
Richardson completed just 53.8 percent of his passes for 2,549 yards, 17 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in 2022. However, his rushing prowess and elite arm strength are what make him intriguing given the modern-day quarterbacks who are taking over the league.
On 103 rushing attempts, Richardson posted 654 yards (6.3 YPC) and nine rushing touchdowns. It's important to remember that sacks are counted as rushing attempts and negative rushing yards, so in actuality, his yards per rushing attempt figure is even more impressive than it seems.
He's an inexperienced prospect with just 13 career starts under his belt, but he's flashed ridiculous upside and is seemingly a lock to be a first-round selection.
Will Anthony Richardson be a Top-Five Pick?
According to MockDraftDataBase.com, which aggregates thousands of mock drafts to form a big board of prospects, Richardson sits as the fifth overall player as of April 24. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, Richardson is (-320) to be taken outside the top four selections. However, he's (-200) odds to be taken inside the top 5. That said, the odds suggest the No. 5 pick is the sweet spot for Richardson.
Seattle currently holds the No. 5 overall pick via the Russell Wilson trade with Denver, and there's been a ton of buzz that Seattle is interested in him. It would be a good situation for Richardson since he could sit behind Geno Smith and play with DK Metcalf whenever he does take over the QB1 job.
Ultimately, the belief is he may not be a starter as a rookie, but his betting odds suggest there's a very real chance he will be among the first five players to hear their names called on draft night, but it's not a certainty.
