Yankees Sign Kole Calhoun To Minor-League Deal
2 years agoThe New York Yankees announced on Thursday that they signed free-agent outfielder Kole Calhoun to a minor-league deal. Calhoun signed with the Seattle Mariners in the offseason but became a free agent when he didn't make the Opening Day roster out of spring training. The 35-year-old veteran outfielder played in 125 games with the Texas Rangers last year and slashed a weak .196/.257/.330 with a .587 OPS, 12 home runs, 49 RBI, three stolen bases and 36 runs scored in 424 plate appearances. He can still offer some value with his glove in the outfield, but he doesn't have much to offer offensively these days and will strictly serve as organizational outfield depth with Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) on the injured list.
