Giants Haven't Made Progress With Saquon Barkley
2 years agoNew York Giants general manager Joe Schoen has nothing new to report on contract-extension discussions involving running back Saquon Barkley ahead of next week's NFL draft. "Nothing's changed since we talked at the owners' meetings," Schoen said on Thursday. It doesn't mean that something won't get done between the two sides, but it's not looking like they'll lock the 26-year-old up on a long-term extension before the draft. In addition to Barkley, the G-Men are trying to get something done with defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence this offseason. Barkley isn't attending offseason workouts and hasn't signed his franchise tender, but the two sides have until July 17 to hammer out a long-term deal. He was able to stay healthy in 2022 and thrived in head coach Brian Daboll's system as a high-end RB1.
