Dexter Lawrence Won't Report For Offseason Program
2 years agoNew York Giants standout defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence won't report for the start of the team's offseason program next Monday due to his contract situation, according to sources. Running back Saquon Barkley also won't report after receiving the franchise tag. Lawrence is a former first-round pick that is entering the fifth and final year of his rookie deal. He was a second-team All-Pro last year when he had a career-high 68 tackles (35 solo), career-high 7.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, 28 QB hits and two forced fumbles in 16 regular season starts. The 25-year-old led the Giants in sacks in 2022, and regardless of whether he signs a long-term extension with the team, he should be a key pass-rusher for them yet again in 2023.
