Kumar Rocker Dominates In Season Debut
2 years agoRangers pitching prospect Kumar Rocker made his first start of the 2023 season with the High-A Hickory Crawdads. He went five innings deep, striking out eight batters and allowing just two hits. It's the 2022 first-round pick's first pro appearance, but he was elite in college with a 2.89 ERA as a Vanderbilt Commodore. While Rocker has an arsenal of four pitches, most of his success comes from the two-pitch mix of his elite slider and mid-90s fastball. However, he presents some durability concerns as his shoulder injury caused the Mets to leave him unsigned after they drafted him with their first-round pick in 2021. The Georgia native has bust potential, but an incredibly high ceiling should assuage dynasty league managers.
