University of Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid skyrocketed up draft boards after his 2022 campaign. Kincaid posted 890 yards on 70 receptions as a fifth-year senior. He also had a game with 16 receptions for 234 yards and one touchdown against the No. 7 ranked USC Trojans -- making him one of the top tight end prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft.
However, his back injury from late November of last year could cause concerns for NFL teams and fantasy managers alike, so we have an injury update as the draft approaches.
Is Kincaid healthy or injured and how high could he be selected in the 2023 NFL Draft? Let's dive in.

Dalton Kincaid Injury Update For Fantasy Football
Kincaid (back) has been fully cleared for football activities by Dr. Robert Watkins, a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon. Kincaid suffered a back injury in late November of the 2022 college football season but has reportedly "shown appropriating healing and he has been asymptomatic with no pain and no limitation of function for at least three months." He is cleared to play football with no restrictions.
That bit of news should ease concerns from tight end-needy franchises as he is fully expected to be ready to go for rookie minicamp, training camp, and Week 1 of the 2023 season.
How High Will Kincaid Be Drafted?
According to NFLMockDraftDataBase.com, Kincaid is currently projected to be a first-round selection in the upcoming draft. The TE's stock has risen in recent months, rising from a mid-second-round pick to a probable first-rounder.
He and Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer are commonly projected to be the first two tight ends off the board.
Dalton Kincaid 2023 Fantasy Football Outlook
Tight ends often take time to develop, but Kincaid will turn 24 during the 2023 season and flashed a high receiving ceiling last year at Utah. According to Adam Schefter, Kincaid has had visits with the Bengals, Texans, Raiders, Chargers, Jaguars, Titans, Lions, Chiefs, and Cowboys. He is scheduled to be in New England on Thursday and in Green Bay next week.
If he lands in Cincinnati, Los Angeles, Detroit, or Dallas -- he could be in a great spot to produce as a rookie. Kansas City would be a fun landing spot as a potential Travis Kelce replacement in the future, but it would take time for him to carve out a high-volume role.
No matter what, he'll be in the rookie TE1 conversation in fantasy if he's taken in the first round. He could even have top-12 potential immediately if in the right situation.
