Matt Mervis Hits Grand Slam Thursday
2 years agoChicago Cubs first base prospect Matt Mervis went 1-for-6 with a grand slam in Thursday's 12-11 win over the St. Paul Saints. Mervis, the Cubs' No. 7 prospect, belted a grand slam to right field in the sixth inning to give the Iowa Cubs the lead. The 24-year-old is slashing .250/.381/.688 with two home runs and seven RBI across four games in Triple-A. He is off to a fast start in the minors and will likely get the call to the big leagues later this season. The Cubs brought in Eric Hosmer and Trey Mancini this offseason and will continue to handle first base duties. Fantasy managers should continue stashing Mervis in all league formats after he smashed 36 home runs between three levels in the minors in 2022.
