2 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale will start Thursday's road game against the Detroit Tigers. It's the second start of the season for the veteran after he was rocked for seven earned runs on seven hits -- including three home runs -- with two walks against six strikeouts in just three innings of work against the Baltimore Orioles. Sale, who pitched just 48 1/3 innings from 2020-2022, also hit a batter in the outing in which he worked to a 15.20 FIP. The left-hander gets a more favorable matchup against a weak Tigers offense Thursday in Detroit, a day that should favor the pitchers with chilly Opening Day weather in northern Michigan.--Brenton Kemp
