Brett Baty Receives Good News On Thumb
2 years agoNew York Mets third base prospect Brett Baty (thumb) received good news regarding his thumb on Wednesday. Baty underwent testing after leaving Tuesday's contest and it was revealed that there was no structural damage. The official diagnosis is right thumb inflammation and he is being listed as day-to-day. It's a huge sigh of relief for Baty, Mets fans and fantasy managers. The 23-year-old has been off to a white-hot start at the plate with a .400 batting average to go along with two homers, five RBI and two stolen bases over his first 15 at-bats. Although he had a strong showing in spring, the Mets continue to deploy veteran Eduardo Escobar at third base. Escobar was ice-cold in Spring Training and has been off to a sluggish start in 2023, so it would be a major upset if Baty isn't playing third base for the Mets sooner than later. He should be monitored in all formats.
