Longtime Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate is a free agent looking for a new home in 2023.
The 31-year-old tight end played eight seasons for the Bucs with Mike Glennon, Josh McCown, Jameis Winston, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and Tom Brady as his primary quarterbacks, so he's well-seasoned and can contribute to his next NFL team.
How did Brate play in 2022 and which teams could be interested in his services for next season? Let's discuss below.

Cameron Brate 2022 Season Review
n nine regular season games, Brate caught 20 of his 38 targets for 174 yards and zero touchdowns. Brate missed eight games with scary head and neck injuries and ultimately posted career lows since his rookie season in all categories. He did score a "garbage-time" touchdown in the NFC Wild Card loss to the Dallas Cowboys, but his season was disappointing, to say the least.
It's tough to criticize a player just because they missed games, but even when he was active, rookie tight end Cade Otton outplayed him. The fourth-round pick totaled 42 receptions for 391 yards and two touchdowns. Since Otton is cheaper and was more productive this year, Brate's time with the team came to an end and he was officially released by Tampa Bay.
Which Teams Could Sign Cameron Brate?
Since Brate won't draw high-end TE1 money and isn't expected to be a primary receiving option, the possibilities are endless for his potential landing spot. Brate has hauled in 33 touchdowns in eight seasons despite rarely being the featured tight end, so he could carry some deep-league fantasy value if he lands with a strong offense and unstable tight end position.
Teams such as the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins, and Dallas Cowboys all ranked inside the top 12 scoring offenses last season and have major uncertainty at the tight end spot. The teams lost Hayden Hurst, T.J. Hockenson, Mike Gesicki, and Dalton Schultz respectively, so Brate could carve out at least a red zone role for any of those offenses.
However, those teams might opt to wait until after the 2023 NFL Draft since the incoming tight end class looks strong. More likely than not, Brate will be a late offseason or preseason signing. That said, if he doesn't land with a promising offense with a hole at tight end, he'll likely be far from the fantasy radar all season long.
