2 years agoLos Angeles Angels starting pitcher Griffin Canning (groin) is scheduled to start for Single-A Inland Empire on Thursday in a rehab assignment. The 26-year-old competed for the sixth spot in the team's rotation this spring but felt some discomfort after his final appearance, leading to a stint on the injured list. If Canning's Thursday outing goes well, manager Phil Nevin said he is a candidate to start for the Angels on April 12. Canning showed some promise in 2020 but owns a lackluster 4.73 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 23.8% strikeout rate in 209 1/3 career innings pitched, so his fantasy upside is limited.--Connelly Doan - RotoBaller
