Andrew Painter Faces No Setbacks In Injury Recovery
2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter (elbow), MLB Pipeline's No. 6 overall prospect in baseball, is making good progress in his recovery from the UCL sprain he suffered in spring training. The Phillies had initially planned to have their top prospect resume light tossing this week, but they have reportedly postponed that recovery benchmark to next week. The Florida native had an incredible 2022 season with a 1.56 ERA, an opponent batting average of .181, and 155 strikeouts in 22 games started between Low-A and Double-A. Painter and his triple-digit fastball will provide an immediate jolt to the Phillies rotation if he debuts this season.
