Anthony Volpe Steals A Base In MLB Debut
2 years agoNew York Yankees shortstop prospect Anthony Volpe made his first big-league start on Opening Day on Thursday against the San Francisco Giants and was the team's nine-hole hitter. Volpe finished the 5-0 win by going 0-for-2 with a stolen base, walk and a strikeout. The 21-year-old earned the Opening Day nod with a hot spring training. He has plenty of maturing to do and can do some special things with the bat, but his fantasy ceiling early on will be limited as long as he sticks in the ninth spot in the batting order. But as long as he's playing every day for the Yanks, he belongs in starting lineups in deep-mixed and AL-only leagues.
