Shelby Miller Makes Opening Day Roster
Shelby Miller has made the opening day roster, according to skipper Dave Roberts. The 32-year-old has had some productive outings throughout his career. However, he's coming off a miserable 2022 campaign, where he posted a hideous 6.43 ERA in four big league appearances. That said, he did enough this Spring to land a spot in the pen, although he's far from an attractive fantasy option at this point.

Shelby Miller Makes Opening Day Roster
Shelby Miller has earned a spot on the Opening Day roster. This is a nice feel-good story as the veteran right-hander was brought in as a non-roster invitee. Miller looked impressive during spring training and has earned himself a spot on the 26-man roster. Miller posted an average season with the Detroit Tigers last season, but was an elite option for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2023. Miller didn't post good numbers during his first stint with the organization earlier in his career. He figures to pitch in middle relief, so regardless he probably won't offer much fantasy value.

Shelby Miller Signs Minor-League Deal With Arizona
Shelby Miller signed a minor-league contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks. This contract includes an invitation to spring training. The 34-year-old logged 55 2/3 innings with the Detroit Tigers last summer before being released. During his stint in Detroit, Miller held a 4.53 ERA with a 0.97 WHIP. He showed strong command with a 5.8 percent walk rate but generated strikeouts at a low 21.8 percent rate. However, he did generate a 3.75 xERA, which suggests he may face some minor regression when he returns to the mound. During the 2023 season, Miller posted a strong 1.71 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP across 42 innings. If Miller can perform well in spring training, he should have a good chance to earn a role in the Arizona bullpen.

Shelby Miller Picks Up Second Save
Jason Foley being used earlier in the game, the Detroit Tigers turned to relief pitcher Shelby Miller to pick up his second save of the season against the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday. Miller allowed a walk but also recorded a strikeout to earn his second save of the season. Foley is still the closer in Detroit, but Miller is likely his insurance should anything happen. On the season, Miller owns a 4.66 ERA with four holds in 36 2/3 innings. Other than the occasional hold or save, Miller doesn't offer much to fantasy managers and can remain on the waiver wire.

Shelby Miller Earns First Save Of Season Monday
Shelby Miller picked up his first save of the season in Monday's 1-0 win over the Guardians. Miller came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning and delivered a 1-2-3 outing with a strikeout. The Tigers' bullpen has been a mess lately, with three different relievers seeing a save opportunity in the last seven days. Jason Foley has seen the most this season but has struggled lately. The veteran Miller has struggled this season with a 5.76 ERA in 29 2/3 innings of work. Andrew Chafin has been the most effective arm out of the bullpen recently, so while fantasy managers may want to avoid the Tigers' bullpen, Chafin may be the most interesting for now.
