Nick Ahmed Unlikely To Play Every Day Early On
2 years agoArizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said shortstop Nick Ahmed (shoulder), who is coming off shoulder surgery, is unlikely to play every day early in the season. The D-backs will look to ease Ahmed back into action while also keeping young shortstop Geraldo Perdomo active. Perdomo hit just .195/.285/.262 with a .547 OPS, five home runs, 40 RBI, 58 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 148 games in 2022 in his first full major-league seasons, so he'll need to play better to hold off Ahmed once he's back to full health. Ahmed played in only 17 games last year due to his shoulder injury, and the 33-year-old also isn't much to look at offensively, but he has much more experience and is solid with the glove at the 6. He should only be stashed in NL-only leagues.
