Charlie Morton Wraps Up Uninspiring Spring Tuesday
2 years agoAtlanta Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton turned in one final lackluster start in Tuesday's 7-5 Grapefruit League win over the Red Sox. The 39-year-old pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on four hits (including two home runs) and two walks with no strikeouts. It is of course small sample size, but Morton compiled a 6.00 ERA in 12 IP this spring. This follows a middling 2022 season in which Morton went 9-6 with a 4.34 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 28.2% strikeout rate in 31 starts. Age is a concern, but Morton still seems like a worthwhile fantasy pick given his history and strikeout upside.
