Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford had a masterful 2021 season, leading the Rams to a Super Bowl victory in his first year with the team. 2022 was a different story.
The Rams posted a 5-12 season in its first year as the defending world champions while Stafford and wide receiver Cooper Kupp spent much of the year sidelined with injuries.
Will Stafford be ready for Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season and what is his fantasy football outlook? Let's dive in.

Matthew Stafford Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Rams head coach Sean McVay said that Stafford (neck) is healthy and will be ready for the 2023 season. "There will be no limitations. He'll be ready to roll," McVay said. Stafford wasn't healthy last year and missed the final seven games of the season due to a spinal-cord contusion. The 35-year-old has taken a lot of punishment in his career, and it's starting to show.
Due to injuries to key players like Stafford and Kupp (ankle), the Rams' offense went off the rails in 2022. Stafford also played through right elbow tendinitis last year and may have to do so again in 2023. However, it's good news that he'll at least be ready to play right away.
Matthew Stafford 2023 Fantasy Outlook
Since Stafford threw just 10 touchdowns to eight interceptions in nine starts last season, his early Best Ball ADP has taken a significant drop. According to 4for4.com ADP, Stafford is being selected as the QB25 in late-March drafts. His draft position puts him behind Bryce Young, Jordan Love, Anthony Richardson, and CJ Stroud. While some of those young unproven players could outproduce him, there's a low chance they all will.
Stafford carries plenty of risk into 2023 since the Los Angeles offense is seemingly crumbling and he has plenty of injury woes, but at QB25, he's worth taking a shot on as a backup in single-QB leagues or a QB2 or QB3 in Superflex leagues. The offense likely can't get much worse than it was in 2022, and a high-end QB2 season isn't out of question.
He's likely no longer a locked-in starter in all fantasy formats, but he could have value with a nice bounce-back season.
