2 years agoLeft-handed pitching prospect Dylan Dodd is putting himself into the conversation for the Atlanta Braves fifth starting role after a stellar spring training. In 18 innings pitched, the 24-year-old has an ERA of 1.50 with 20 strikeouts and an opponent batting average of .227. In 2022, the southpaw quickly progressed from High-A to Triple-A Gwinnett. The No. 9 prospect in the Braves system, Dodd has a chance to take the Braves fifth starting role, but he'll have to beat out their top-ranked pitching prospect, left-hander Jared Shuster. Their trajectories have been nearly identical, as Shuster similarly rose from High-A to Triple-A and has performed similarly to Dodd in spring training -- 1.45 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 18 2/3 innings pitched. It'll come down to the wire between the two, but the lower-ranked Dodd has put himself in a great position to leapfrog Shuster.--Pranav Uppalapati - RotoBaller
