Joey Wentz To Fill In As Tigers Fifth Starter
2 years agoDetroit Tigers left-handed pitching prospect Joey Wentz will fill in for the injured Michael Lorenzen as the Tigers fifth starter. The southpaw will face the juggernaut Houston Astros on Tuesday, April 4, at Minute Maid Park. The No. 9-ranked prospect in the Tigers system made his major-league debut late last season, starting in seven games with an ERA of 3.03. However, there is cause for concern, as Wentz did have an xFIP of 4.56 and a SIERA of 4.58. While his 2022 may have been a bit fluky, the 22-year-old didn't perform terribly against the Astros last season, allowing only two runs in four innings pitched. If you need a one-time plug-in starter for the first week of the fantasy season, Wentz should be one of your options on the waiver wire.
