Kyle Manzardo Sent Down To Minor League Camp
2 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays reassigned fourth-ranked prospect first baseman Kyle Manzardo to minor league camp. Manzardo's elite control of the strike zone was expectedly on display during spring training as he went 9-for-27 with two home runs and nine RBI across 30 plate appearances. After hitting a surprise 22 home runs last year, it was exciting for fantasy players to see him continue his power tear with two home runs in spring training. While the 22-year-old should return to the majors this year, his path to playing time will depend on if he can outplay major leaguers Yandy Diaz, Luke Raley, Isaac Paredes, and Harold Ramirez at the first base position. Manzardo has to find a way to break through the Rays' crowded infield to warrant long-term fantasy consideration, but he can be stashed in most leagues due to his upside.
