Former Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, and Tennessee Titans tight end Austin Hooper is a free agent this offseason, and with some other notable tight ends such as Dalton Schultz, Hayden Hurst, and Mike Gesicki all signing with new teams, he could be the next tight end domino to fall.
Hooper has been productive in spurts during his seven-year NFL career and is a solid possession receiver and chain-mover, so some teams will be interested in his services.
How did Hooper play in 2022 and which teams could be targeting the veteran? Let's dive in.

Austin Hooper 2022 Season Review
In 17 games for Tennessee, Hooper caught 41 of his 60 targets for 444 yards and two touchdowns. While those aren't eye-popping numbers, it's worth mentioning Tennessee passed for just 171.4 yards per game, good for 30th in the NFL.
Hooper had a slow start to the season, but he ended up with eight games of at least four targets over the final 9 weeks of the season. He shared reps with blocking tight end Geoff Swaim and emerging rookie Chigoziem Okonkwo, so all in all, it was a solid year.
His ceiling is limited as he doesn't do much in the YAC department, but he has proven to help an offense everywhere he's been.
Which Teams Could Sign Austin Hooper?
Since there are plenty of teams that utilize two tight end sets, the possibilities are essentially endless for Hooper in free agency. However, the Las Vegas Raiders just traded away Darren Waller and are set to host Hooper on a visit. While the team already signed O.J. Howard, Hooper has the better resume and production profile.
Josh McDaniels ran a ton of two tight end sets in New England and could have plans to feature 12-personnel in his new-look offense with Jimmy Garoppolo. Hooper pairs well with Garoppolo as a big, reliable possession receiver.
Some other TE-needy teams are the Cincinnati Bengals, Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, and Washington Commanders. Hooper would fill a void in those teams' depth charts, too.
