Michael McDowell Looking To Stay Aggressive At Atlanta This Weekend
2 years agoWhen you think of superspeedway racing, Michael McDowell is one of the underdogs that tends to pop into many people's minds. He's a former Daytona 500 winner, and since Atlanta Motor Speedway has been converted into a superspeedway-like track, the new configuration of this track now plays into McDowell's strengths. As far as Saturday's Ambetter Health 400 goes, McDowell had another strong qualifying run this weekend and will start the race from the 12th starting position. As far as his strategy for the races goes, his crew chief, Travis Peterson, said, "You must stay aggressive. Michael and I both like that approach. We want to race up front and not hang back. It worked for both of us more than it has not." Last year at Atlanta, McDowell finished 24th and 15th.
