In his 10-year NFL career, quarterback Case Keenum has spent time with the Houston Texans, St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, Washington Football Teams, Cleveland Browns, and Buffalo Bills. Early this week, Keenum agreed to terms to return to where it all began with Houston.
The 35-year-old signal-caller is a Texas native and played his college ball at the University of Houston. He now has the chance to be a part of the rebuild efforts under new head coach DeMeco Ryans in the Lone Star State.
How has Keenum played during his career and does he have a chance to start for the Texans in 2023? Let's dive in.

Case Keenum Career Review
In 78 games played, Keenum has completed 62.3 percent of his passes for 14,884 passing yards, 78 passing touchdowns, and 48 interceptions. He is 29-35 as a starter playing for multiple organizations. The best run of his career came with the Minnesota Vikings in 2017, as he passed for 3,547 yards and 22 touchdowns to just seven interceptions.
Minnesota would enter the playoffs as the No. 2 seed in the NFC and famously defeated the New Orleans Saints in the Divisional Round on a last-second throw and catch from Keenum to Stefon Diggs. That moment became known the as Minneapolis Miracle.
The Vikings fell to the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC title game and Keenum was replaced by Kirk Cousins for the 2018 season. After two mediocre years as a starter in Denver and Washington, Keenum reverted to a backup QB.
Is Case Keenum The Texans' Starting Quarterback in 2023?
Keenum's value comes in the form of either a short-term bridge QB or a backup who can mentor whoever the Texans select with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, assuming it's a quarterback. Some rookies are named starters ahead of Week 1, but others start the year as the backup as they continue to learn the offense and nuances of the pro game.
If Keenum does start, it'll likely be for just a few games before someone like Alabama's Bryce Young takes over. That said, Keenum might be worth rostering in deep two-QB and Superflex leagues this offseason, just while there is a bit of uncertainty.
Generally, the answer is no -- Keenum is not slated to be a legitimate starter for the Texans in 2023.
