Heston Kjerstad Continues Torrid Spring Monday
2 years agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder Heston Kjerstad continued a red-hot spring on Monday with a long solo home run to right field as part of a seven-inning, 6-5 loss to the Atlanta Braves. It was the third long ball of the spring for the 24-year-old, who added a single on the afternoon and is now hitting a robust .478 with a 1.500 OPS across 23 at-bats in Grapefruit League action. Kjerstad's professional debut in 2022 was shortened by a hamstring issue, but he mashed to the tune of a .463 average and 1.201 OPS in 22 Single-A games before being humbled to a .233 average with just three homers and a .674 OPS across 43 High-A contests. The 2020 second overall pick will likely start back at the High-A level as he looks to work his way up the Orioles' minor-league ladder in 2023.
